Rambo will be rebooted without Sylvester Stallone

Rambo is getting rebooted and so is its leading man Sylvester Stallone, according to Variety. In January, Stallone said he was done playing the super soldier John Rambo. The Rambo reboot will fittingly be titled Rambo: New Blood. The film is set to be directed by Ariel Vromen, while Brooks McLaren will write the script. Variety reported there weren’t plot details for the movie yet, since it’s in its early stages. As of now, it’s unknown who will take over for Stallone, though it’s said the film is hoping to tap a younger actor.                                Image/Millennium Films is reportedly thinking of treating the character of John Rambo like James Bond, a role which has been played by many actors over the decades. Sylvester Stallone to Star as Mafia Boss in TV Series Directed by Antoine Fuqua The Rambo franchise saw Stallone play the titular soldier over four films, the first of which, First Blood, was released in 1982. That film was adapted from David Morrell’s 1972 novel of the same name. Stallone’s last stand as Rambo came in 2008 when he reprised his role as the asskicker in, well, Rambo. Discussing giving John Rambo another go, Stallone told Variety, “The heart's willing, but the body says, 'Stay home!'" He added, "It's like fighters that go back for one last round and get clobbered. Leave it to someone else." Stallone won’t be too bored, considering he’s got Netflix’s Ultimate Beastmaster international competition, centered on an obstacle course called “The Beast.” Sly was also photographed heading to the Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 set this past spring.
