CHECKOUT THE POEM RELEASED BY A YOUNG TALENTED NIGERIAN TITLED "WE ARE OUR DOOM".

Poem tittle: we are our own doom

Memories of the past had eluded them
Baba is the Messiah, Baba will bring change
Vision of change Baba shared in his rally
Corruption will leave the land was the new song
The elders had forgotten the sins of Baba
The youths had looked towards a better life

A few looted funds had been returned
Baba is surely keeping to his words
Again looted funds had been returned
A couple of arrests nd sack of officials
No concrete work had been done
Baba said it was going to be a slow start

Papa's had not received his pension
Baba was working on a centralized fund
Mama could no longer maintain her petty business
Baba had banned importation of goods
Tunde has been displaced from work
Tunde's boss could no longer pay him

Aisha could no longer afford to travel to abuja
The issue will be rectified said the petroleum minister.
I will not eat garri for 3 consecutive days cried little Ebuka.
My son if only you knew rice was a luxury mama murmured as she usuerd Ebuka to eat.

Baba watched without knowledge of what is to come.
The nation was at a stand still
We told you so bragged Baba's opposition
Papa knew he had nothing to offer tunde
Mama kept warning aisha to stay away from men
Ebuka was outside playing
No money for private school, a big ego for public school was all papa could offer.

Unity could no longer be
The neutral direction of the compass had been favoured
How did i overlook Baba's previous sins papa wondered
Ignorance among market women was what made mama vote for Baba in the first place
Aisha will soon put to bed for a man with which she had no matrimony.
If i sell the old TV i could have enough to survive a week tunde thought.

Doom it was
Our own doom we had usuerd into the dance floor
If Baba was enjoying the show, we do not know
The judges will be judged was an obsession Baba had been caught up in
Solace had been taken in religion.

I am
You are
We are
He too is
Our very own doom.
